NEW SHOW! NEW PLACE! We're in CLARENDON, Saturday, October 15!

October 15th at HUNAN NUMBER ONE!

Saturday, October 15th the 'Beams invade Clarendon, in Arlington, Virginia. We're all Arlington-bred so it's a little like a Homecoming. We'll hit the stage just after 8 at HUNAN NUMBER ONE, at the intersection of Wilson Blvd. and Garfield Street. This is the heart of Clarendon, there is plenty of free and paid parking. HUNAN NUMBER ONE is the home of the 32 oz. beer specials, so come in a carpool with a designated driver.

The show is in the not-so-secret back room, there is no cover or minimum.

If you aren't in the mood for Chinese food (or sushi) you can start the evening al fresco at any of a number of fine Clarendon restaurants, then head on over to HUNAN #1 about eight.

Videos from the last show...

Here are four videos from our August show at Alley Cat (one is poorly hidden here). Click the pix, silly, for the others. Photos by Pete Heywood.

July 2nd was a blast.

The 'Beams rocked The Alley Cat Restaurant near Landmark early in July, with special guests Derek Every and Karen Collins. We love the big stage and lights, thanks to HIGHBEAM Charlie Gilbert for running sound. Once a HIGHBEAM always a HIGHBEAM.

August 20 was Rockin'

See the videos up above from our August 20 show at Alley Cat. If you happen to pop by there one day when we aren't playing, mention the HIGHBEAMS. It won't get you a free drink but it will get us back on stage there a little faster. We're thinking Sept/Oct, we'll let you know.

We are booking shows

Get in touch through Facebook to book the HIGHBEAMS. We are still the inflation-fighting selection for your rock and roll infection and the classic rock confection for your sun-ravaged complexion. We are your protection at the blues/rock intersection.

Pictures coming

We are busy Photoshopping pictures to make us look skinnier, here are a few from July 2nd to whet your appetite!

Mark Wray plays Pink Cadillac.

Munson rocking' the black Tele.

JK & MB at Alley Cat.

Rose Davis sitting in on vocals.

Johnny the K with the Surfcaster, and a brand-new hat.

Here's the 'Beams with a no picture video, used as a contest entry in 2009.

It's the HIGHBEAMS like you've never seen them before, unless you've seen them before. Full color photos, movies, audio files and all the postcards ever sent in over 30 years of HB madness. Click on the photos for audio files.

Here's the skinny on what the NINE (?) HIGHBEAMS are up to: JK is teaching and published a book; sailing Lake Superior in his spare time. MB got a new day job, Bill Munson is in Alexandria with 2 (count 'em, TWO) high school graduate sons and MARK WRAY is the newest 'Beam, with only 27 years experience. Fabio is playwriting and raising two kids and Dave is still working at Burger King (he's the fry man). JD is busy with Karl Stoll and the Dangerzone (cool link coming), Chuck is running sound for the 'Beams, (we'll sneak in and set up a backup mic at the soundboard for your harmony parts). We think Christine's in West Virginia. Send us your address Christine, we've got a royalty check for you.

Be sure to check out the postcard page, all of the postcards have been scanned and are online for you.

August 30, 2001 at Luna Park - the H-Bees in an impromptu jam.

H-bees play kids (movie) - pick one - beams with JD on harp

Back online! The HIGHBEAMS present a Buddy Holly Tribute (1999). John, Mark and Chuck briefly reformed to pay tribute to Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens on Feb. 3rd, 1999. Arch Campbell was there and put the News 4 spotlight on the opening act featuring Vince Benetti and Mark Wray (and Johnny the K). Also on the bill our old "buddy" Frank Johnson. Click here to see the clip.

Here are some early shots of the 'Beams, John Setear sitting in on harp, and Fabio playing the Les Paul at Johnny's.

That's Susan Werner with Fabio after a show at Johnny's, her first appearance in DC. The shot of Barker is from Luna Park. The 'Beams still mysteriously show up at Luna Park, now called the STRAY Cat, from time to time. Just drinks and dinner, of course.

Bad Habits was always a great gig for us.

At "Fins," Fabio and Munson trade licks at the "Have you Seen Me?" show. It was Fab's last show with the 'Beams... for a while.

JK playin' CCR at Bad Habits, that's John Dickson on the far left.

         Jamming at Wakefield.

Here are some shots from the archives, JK's first band, that's John in the blue jacket and jeans, holding his homemade guitar. The group, PHOTON, had a World Tour in 1980, at least that's what the tee-shirts read.

The second shot is at Wakefield, after hours, with some teacher friends.
